Pete and I are two ordinary people with commitment and passion to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.  The work of Neuroscience Research Australia has inspired us, and we want to support them by raising money for a cure.  Research is greatly needed to help people living with Alzheimer’s now, and the thousands who are diagnosed on a daily basis worldwide.
   
A cure is needed urgently.  My mum was given this slow death sentence at the age of 68.  Mum sadly passed away in 2018 aged 81.  Dementia destroyed her capacity to function and to enjoy life.  It took so much away from her life – her love of cooking, sewing, crocheting, enjoying time with family and friends, driving, self-care, and so much more in the early stages – and for the last six years in the late stages she could no longer walk or talk or do anything for herself.
    
Memories are a small part of what dementia destroys.  However the essence of the person is still there.  Humanity needs a cure, and we need it now.
